Setting up a fish tank (8)

Another setback…

One thing I forgot to mention in previous entries was that you should carefully check all plants for snails and little blobs of jelly that contain their eggs, and remove them under running water.
One thing that I failed to do myself, was to carefully check all plants for snails and little blobs of jelly that contain their eggs, and remove them under running water.

Yes! I’ve already got snails in the tank and it’s not a good sign. The little pests breed like wildfire and infest a tank extremely quickly. I’ve removed them as soon as they appeared, but don’t know how many more there are yet. As there are no fish in the tank yet I may be able to resort to some kind of chemical cure if necessary.

I used some snail killer today, and hopefully will not have to use it again. We’ll see.
